Travelling South from the City Centre, take the M3 through the leafy Southern Suburbs En route you will pass Groote Schuur Hospital – the first heart transplant in the world was performed here in 1967 The University of Cape Town – the oldest University in Cape Town founded in 1829 Follow the clearly marked signage for your First Stop - Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens With its rich botanical diversity, lovely walks, shop and restaurant, visitors are encouraged to spend some time here.. it makes a great early breakfast stop. Continue South along the M3 and take exit 15 (Kendal Road) M38 into De Waal Road and on to the M5 continue South and turn left into 5th avenue, following the signs to Rondevlei in Perth Road, Grassy Park Second Stop – Rondevlei Nature Reserve and CAFDA – The Stables Craft and Culture Centre See how the community of Grassy Park has embraced tourism, combining eco and nature with a celebration of culture and crafts. Rondevlei (a wetlands reserve) has extensive bird populations, a small family of hippo’s and the local tour operator, Imvubu Nature Tours (pre book only) will be happy to take you on a walking tour or boat trip Neighbouring Rondevlei is CAFDA. Established in 1944, the organization addresses problems of poverty by introducing community projects and skills development. The Stables Craft and Culture Centre involves the community in the preservation of its culture through its restaurant and local crafts. This is an excellent Refreshments stop. Continue South with the M5 and into Muizenberg. If it’s a fine day take a little time for a refreshing walk on the beach.. head for Surfers Corner and let the breeze, the sand and the sea work its magic. Head for the M4 (Main Road) and continue with your journey in a Southerly direction. Leaving Muizenberg look out for some fascinating architecture – The Edwardian Building that houses the Railway Station ( National Monument), Het Posthuys, the oldest building on the Peninsula ( National Monument) and Rhodes Cottage (National Monument) are just a few of some fascinating buildings to be found along this seaside drive. Third Stop – Kalk Bay Be blown away as you browse and buy along its busy Main Road and cobbled side streets with a choice of curios, local arts and crafts, ethnic clothing and antiques. If you’ve arrived at lunch time head down to the fishing harbour and watch the boats come in with their catch for the day and if you’re ready for lunch Kalk Bay offers a wide range of choices from Cuban to traditional seafood. Waterside restaurants, whether for lunch or a cold beer, are well worth a visit. Continue South through Fish Hoek – you’re heading for Simon’s Town… keep the sea on your left and the M4 will bring you into Fourth Stop – Simon’s Town Steeped in Naval History, a number of Museums offer a fascinating insight into the town’s past. A visit to the Noorul Islam Museum will reveal the hardships and heartache of the forced removal of families from Simon’s Town to settlements like Ocean View and various areas of the Cape Flats. A number of families have been successful in claiming back their land. On a lighter note, make sure you ask about Able Seaman Just Nuisance, the dog (Great Dane) that became the darling of the British Royal Navy. His story is delightful. If you did not lunch in Kalk Bay, grab some fish and chips and walk the harbour jetty or sit at the harbour-side restaurant for delicious seafood. Continue to Fifth Stop – Land Based Penguin Colony at Boulders Boulders Beach itself is great for a dip in the sea and sheltered from the wind. The sanctuary for the African Penguin has a boardwalk at Foxy Beach that allows visitors a close encounter with the penguins and can be accessed from Boulders Beach. Sixth Stop - Table Mountain National Park – Good Hope and Cape Point One of the most visited tourist attractions in Cape Town, a trip through the Reserve takes you to the most South-Westerly point of Africa and standing at Cape Point offers breathtaking views of the great sweep of ocean. The area is home to small herds of Zebra and Eland, but it is the Chacma Baboon that will make its presence felt! Visitors must not feed the baboons and are encouraged to keep foodstuffs out of sight as troops of baboons can become a nuisance. Heading back to the City, take the M65 for a scenic trip through Kommetjie. Look out for the Kommetjie Lighthouse, the tallest cast-iron lighthouse on the SA Coast. Then take the M64 (Ou Kaapse Weg) and join the M42 for a drive through the Constantia Wine Route. Seventh and Final Stop – One of five Wine Estates of the Cape Wine Route The Route is clearly signposted and time should allow for at least one visit. Ideal for a bit of wine tasting and/or cellar tour or a more leisurely late afternoon tea or coffee, Groot Constantia with its historical value (the oldest wine farm in SA) is the most popular estate on the Route and well worth a visit.

Start your third day, in the Eastern Region of Cape Town, with a buffet breakfast at the Zevenwacht Wine Estate, Kuilsriver. The scrumptious breakfast is prepared by the chef school on the premises. After breakfast, you will be taken onto a scenic drive of the estate, to the lookout point which offers a spectacular view of the 200 vineyards at Zevenwacht. Your next stop will be at the Hazendal Wine Estate, Kuilsriver. You will enjoy a wine tasting and a visit to the historical Russian Museum and the exquisite display of Fabergè Eggs. A traditional “Russian Tea” experience is available on request. From Hazendal, you will stop at the “Community Woman Action Group” in Eersteriver, where handmade arts and crafts are for sale. The next visit will be The Philani Nutrition Project in Khayelitsha. This organization has mobilized a huge number of unemployed women who retail the traditional clothes, for example the SA flag and mats. The next and also the most popular attraction in Khayelitsha, is “Look out Hill” It is called “Table Mountain” by the residents in Khayelitsha. It offers beautiful views of the Cape Flats. The Khayelitsha Craft market is also well worth a visit, take a piece of true traditional crafts from Cape Town back with you. From Khayelitsha you will travel to Somerset West, to visit a primate sanctuary, called: Monkeytown. There are more than 25 exotic monkey species in a leafy garden park. The sanctuary offers guided tours, feeding time talks, interaction with tame monkeys and restaurant facilities. From Monkeytown, a late lunch will be served at the Vergelegen Wine Estate, in Somerset West. Vergelegen, meaning “Far away”, a historic property is now coming into its own as a showpiece of South Africa’s wine renaissance. Numerous awards have been won by the winemaker, Andrè Van Rensburg. Lunch can be enjoyed at the Lady Philips Restaurant, al fresco on the Rose Terrace, or take a luxurious picnic under the magical camphor-wood trees. To end your day, in the East, we suggest a breathtaking sunset cruise from the False Bay Harbour. Take in the grandeur of the ocean and the spectacular sunset as you relax with your friends while enjoying a glass of sparkling wine while the sun sets.

Today’s attractions, in the North of Cape Town, are quite widely spread, so be sure to pack some refreshments for the journey. Day 4 starts with a hearty breakfast followed by an exhilarating game drive at the Clara Anna Fontein Nature Reserve in the North of Cape Town. The reserve boasts 8 Red Data plant species and animals include Zebra, Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Ostrich, African Wild Cat, Cape Fox and Springbok. Now, you’re on your way to experience the bounty of the Durbanville Wine Valley. Choose from the splendid offerings including not only fine wines, but also olive products. Drink in the rolling hills and crisp clean air while sipping on one of the fruit-driven yet elegant wines. And while you’re there, why not enjoy lunch at an estate of your choice. Mellow and rested from your strolls among the vines, you’re off to the West Coast Ostrich Show Ranch. The farm nestles on the sea facing slopes of the Durbanville hills, which offer magnificent views of Table Mountain and the Hottentots Holland Mountains, an area steeped in local history. Take a tour around the fascinating farm and find out everything there is to know about this intriguing flightless bird. Your last stop for the day is Cape Town’s oldest township, Langa. Take a walking tour through this area. Get to know the people. Feel the amazing energy, endurance and positivity of its people. And what better way to end a day than a scrumptious dinner with some home brewed beer accompanied by township jazz… it doesn’t get much better than this!

Robben Island early morning ferry This world heritage site is a must see when visiting Cape Town as it symbolizes the birthplace of South Africa’s democracy. The Robben Island experience includes the following highlights: a return boat trip across Table Bay, a visit to the Maximum Security Prison, interaction with an ex-political prisoner as well as a 45 minute bus tour with a guide providing commentary. Catch an early dinner, followed by a show at the On Broadway theatre in the city centre.
